LABOR DAY WEEKEND LAKE TAHOE

The annual Labor Day Lake Tahoe Fireworks Extravaganza will light up the sky over South Shore in various patterns and designs while choreographed to music broadcast on local radio: 93.9 FM-KRLT, 1490 AM KOWL (www.tahoesouth.com/). The front row vantage points include the M.S. Dixie II, Nevada Beach, Round Hill Pines, Edgewood Tahoe and Lakeview Commons. FALL FESTIVALS

The diverse and growing Lake Tahoe culinary scene will be celebrated during September with three major events featuring locally sourced food, wine, beer and spirits exploring the regional palate. The festivities feature the 7^thannual Sample the Sierra, Saturday, Sept. 17, www.samplethesierra.com, the basin’s largest farm-to-fork food and wine festival; Sample the Sierra Pop-Up Dinner, Sept. 16, with celebrity chef Clint Jolly; followed by Tahoe South Restaurant Week with pre-fixe dinner specials and offers Sept. 16-23, at South Shore’s premier establishments,www.tahoesouth.com/restaurantweek/.

Sample the Sierra will feature more than 20 South Shore restaurants presenting the bountiful produce available in El Dorado County to craft flavorful menus. Local establishments like Café Fiore, Jimmy’s at The Landing Resort & Spa, Echo Lounge at Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel and MacDuff’s will all utilize regional ingredients for dishes to be complemented with wineries, distilleries and breweries making for all-encompassing dining experiences. Many of the establishments involved with Sample the Sierra will also participate in Tahoe South Restaurant Week, Sept. 16-23, showcasing the same Farm-to-Fork goals.

Tahoe South welcomes the return of Oktoberfest at Camp Richardson Resort for the 22^nd year, Oct. 1-2. The festival features traditional German foods and desserts complemented by authentic German beers and wines. Attractions include craft booths, pumpkin patch, climbing wall and live music. The Fall Fish Fest celebrates the annual migration of Kokanee salmon at Taylor Creek Visitor Center, Oct. 1-2. LIVE ENTERTAINMENT AND RECREATIONAL ADVENTURES

Slide the City premieres in California with the longest and highest elevation for the 1,000’ slip n’ water slide with views of South Lake Tahoe along Ski Run Blvd. Area non-profit, Tahoe Regional Young Professionals, have secured the event in partnership with city, county and community partners to feature a day of live music, vendors and environmental conservation information, Saturday, Aug. 27 from 11 a.m.- 6 p.m. Sliders must be at least 5 years old and 46″ or taller. Tour de Tahoe – Bike Big Blue is back for its 13^th year, Sunday, Sept. 11 with hundreds of bikers. The Ride to Cure Diabetes offers an adventure for avid bicyclist to circumnavigate 72 miles around Lake Tahoe. There will be remarkable scenery, food, water, first aid stations, and restrooms facilities. Writers, authors, readers and performers from all around the country will appear at South Lake Tahoe Oct. 21-23 forWordWave, a three-day festival held on the grounds of Valhalla at the Tallac Historic Site.
