South Lake Tahoe, CA (January 30, 2016) – At about 7:42 p.m., several people called 9-1-1 to report shots being fired at the Beverly Lodge at 34780 South Lake Tahoe Boulevard. Officers were dispatched immediately and arrived within about 3 ½ minutes. Upon arriving at the scene, the responding Officers found a man who was shot on the ground outside of the rooms at the hotel. A responding EMS unit transported the man to the hospital where he died within a few minutes of arrival.

The South Lake Tahoe Police Department has several Officers and Detectives working on various leads. Additionally, the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Department is assisting with crime scene processing and the California Highway Patrol is assisting our patrol force with scene security and the initial investigatory efforts.

There is strong preliminary information which supports that this case is not a random act of violence. At this early stage, it is not possible to provide more detailed information. As more information becomes available, we will endeavor to keep the public informed as long as it preserves the integrity of the investigation.
