Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Investigating a Battery with a Deadly Weapon

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a report of a battery with a deadly weapon, which occurred at the 7-11 Convenience Store located at 5700 Sun Valley Blvd Sparks, Nevada (Sun Valley area) today between 3:30-3:45 p.m.

The victim, Hispanic Male Adult 38 years old, was contacted by the Reno Police Department at a local hospital in reference to a puncture wound to his abdomen area. The Reno Police Officer determined that the incident occurred in Sun Valley, so the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office responded to the hospital to continue the investigation.

The victim stated he was verbally and physically confronted by a Black male as he exited his vehicle in front of the 7-11 Convenience Store at 5700 Sun Valley Blvd. According to the victim, a Black male asked him for some money but he told the Black male that he did not have any money to spare. The victim said he got into a verbal dispute with the Black male at which time the Black male produced a 3-4 inch edged-weapon and stabbed the victim once in the abdomen.

The victim said that the suspect fled on foot and provided this description:

Black Male Adult, height 5’8”, weight approximately 140-150 lbs, and short hair or shaved head. Last seen wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt and black pants. Weapon used was an unknown type edged-weapon approximately 3-4 inch blade.

There were no other witnesses to this incident. The victim drove himself to the hospital for examination. The victim was treated for a non-life threatening injury and is in good condition.
