Lake Tahoe, Stateline, NV – Placer County and the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency have released a Notice of Preparation for scoping an environmental impact document for two actions: the draft Tahoe Basin Area Plan and implementing regulations and the Tahoe City Lodge project.

The draft Tahoe Basin Area Plan is a land use document guiding growth, land development, and natural resource management in Placer County’s portion of the Lake Tahoe Basin for the next 20 years. The Tahoe City Lodge project is a proposed project that includes redevelopment of the “Henrikson” site northeast of the Tahoe City “Wye” with new tourist accommodations and amenities, as well as renovations to the Tahoe City Golf Course clubhouse.

The draft Tahoe Basin Area Plan encompasses about 72 square miles. It includes the communities of Kings Beach/Stateline, Tahoe City, Carnelian Bay, Dollar Point, Sunnyside, Homewood, Tahoe Vista, and Tahoma. The Tahoe City Lodge project is located at 255 and 265 North Lake Boulevard and includes portions of the Tahoe City Golf Course.

Together with the programmatic analysis of the draft area plan, the Tahoe City Lodge project will be analyzed at a project level. Placer County’s intent is to explore how new regulations and incentives in the Tahoe Basin Area Plan can help achieve TRPA’s environmental thresholds, foster environmental redevelopment, and promote revitalization in North Tahoe communities through individual projects such as the Tahoe City Lodge project.

Release of the documents starts a 60-day public comment period for interested parties to submit comments, questions, and concerns that will be considered in the scoping and preparation of a draft environmental document. Hard copies of the draft Tahoe Basin Area Plan and notice of preparation are available at the Tahoe City Library, 740 North Lake Blvd.; the Kings Beach Library, 301 Secline St.; and the Placer County Community Development Resource Agency, 3091 County Center Drive, in Auburn.

Five public scoping meetings are scheduled to accept input on the preparation of and content of the environmental impact document. Placer County will hold two meetings and the TRPA will hold three.

Placer County’s meetings are both scheduled for Tuesday, June 16, 2015. The first meeting is at the North Tahoe Event Center, 8318 North Lake Boulevard in Kings Beach, at 12:30 p.m. The second meeting is at the Tahoe City Public Utility District Board Room, 221 Fairway Drive in Tahoe City, at 5:30 p.m.

TRPA’s public meetings will be held:

June 10, 2015, during the TRPA Advisory Planning Commission (APC) meeting, TRPA Offices, 128 Market Street, Stateline, Nevada. The meeting is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.;
June 24, 2015, during the TRPA Regional Plan Implementation Committee meeting, TRPA Offices, 128 Market Street, Stateline, Nevada, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.; and
June 24, 2015, during the TRPA Governing Board meeting, TRPA Offices, 128 Market Street, Stateline, Nevada. The meeting is scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The TRPA APC and Governing Board meetings begin at 9:30 a.m. However, the topics are not time certain. Agendas will be posted about one week prior to meetings. Please refer to meeting agendas available at www.trpa.org/calendar/ for additional information.

In addition, Placer County will also conduct two public workshops to seek input on the draft Tahoe Basin Area Plan. The public workshops will be held at the following times and locations:

June 22, 2015, at the North Tahoe Event Center, 8318 North Lake Blvd., Kings Beach, California, at 5:30 p.m.; and
June 29, 2015, at the Tahoe City Public Utility District Board Room, 221 Fairway Drive, Tahoe City, California, at 5:30 p.m.
