IVGID ChargePoint Stations Now Installed

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. (May 7, 2014) – As the number of electric vehicles (EVs) on the road grows, electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) is in high demand among EV drivers. EV owners require a robust network of charging infrastructure to increase their travel
radius and reduce range anxiety. Public charging infrastructure allows drivers to charge their EVs while on the go and allows businesses to increase their visibility and foot traffic.
In early spring 2014, four Eaton 70-am 240V J1772 Level 2 chargers were installed at Diamond Peak Ski Resort and the Championship Golf Course. The ChargePoint stations at these two IVGID venues cost $40,000 and half of that was funded by a grant received from NV Energy to offset the cost of installation. The units are networked via ChargePoint and require a ChargePoint membership to use. ChargePoint stations are free use to the public for five years.
ChargePoint has the largest and most open EV charging network in the world, with more than 16,500 places to charge, 2,320 customers and a 70%+ share of all networked public charging stations. Every 10 seconds, a driver connects to a ChargePoint station. By plugging in and charging over 4,000,000 times, ChargePoint drivers have saved over 3.8 million gallons of gasoline and avoided 28 million pounds of greenhouse gas emissions.
“We are leading the way in sustainability and following suit with other environmentally-conscientious resorts around the country,” says Diamond Peak General Manager Brad Wilson. IVGID’s long-term objective of using ChargePoint is to show environmental responsibility by encouraging electric vehicle use to IVGID’s recreation venues.
