MINDEN, NV…On Monday 1/13/2014 at approximately 3:06 AM employees of North Sails Company, 2549 Business Parkway Minden, NV were present when a flash fire enveloped a product manufacturing machine.

The seven employees exited safely and called 911 for assistance. The East Fork Fire and Paramedic Districts responded with 23 personnel on 5 engines, a squad and an ambulance. Upon initial arrival, a second alarm was called as active fire was observed in a machinery area. Douglas County Sheriffs Deputies assisted the employees and cordoned off the area during operations. The fire was extinguished within 10 minutes of arrival.

Crews stayed on scene to assist the company in clearing smoke from the 52,000 square foot building. Employees reported they were uninjured by the fire. Company officials are assessing the extent of the damage to manufacturing equipment, and the state of the art custom sail making facility is being cleaned from top to bottom by employees.

The damage is estimated at $250,000 to the equipment, with minor damage to the building electrical system. The investigation into the cause has revealed there was no human error involved.
