Robber Sought in Weimar County Store Robbery

Placer County Sheriff’s detectives are seeking a robber who held two Weimar Country Store clerks at gunpoint during a robbery Monday night. The suspect apologized to the clerks and told them he had also been robbed and needed money for Christmas.
The man, described as 6 feet, 5 inches tall and weighing 180 pounds, entered the store on Paoli Lane at 7:05 p.m. He approached the male clerk who was working at the back of the store and displayed a handgun. The suspect ordered the clerk to the front of the store, where he and a female clerk were ordered to open the cash register and dump the money into a bag.
The suspect then bound the wrists of both clerks before he fled the store on foot. Shortly after he left, two vehicles were seen leaving the area: a silver Toyota pickup truck and a tan or brown Ford pickup truck with a red camper shell. Shortly after the suspect fled, the male clerk was able to free himself and call 9-1-1.

The suspect’s face was covered during the robbery. He had brownish-blond hair and was described as approximately 20-25 years of age.
Anyone with information on these vehicles or the suspect is urged to call Detective Bill Summers at (530) 889-7843. Anyone wishing to give information but remain anonymous could be eligible for a cash reward by calling Placer County Crime Stoppers at (800) 923-8191.
