Transforming Beginner Lessons with Terrain Based Teaching
Diamond Peak will introduce Terrain Based Teaching into all beginner lessons, a method that has proven successful throughout the industry. Terrain based teaching involves incorporating small terrain features into the beginner lesson as part of the learning progression, which amps up the fun factor while helping beginners learn the skills they will need once they graduate from the bunny slope. Features such as the mini-half pipe, rollers or spine help students develop specific skills and experience the sensation that more advanced skiers and riders know and love. These features are designed to increase confidence, help students progress to the next level and have more fun.

More Dates for Diamond Peak’s Signature Event – Last Tracks
Due to its increasing popularity, Diamond Peak will add several new dates to the Last Tracks calendar in 2014. Last Tracks takes place every Saturday, February through April, and this season a few Fridays will be added to the lineup. The 2013-14 schedule will include wineries, several craft breweries and a few themed events including a special Valentine’s Day Last Tracks. With more dates on the schedule and the opportunity to book a Private Last Tracks , you shouldn’t miss out on this True Tahoe experience.

Improved Glade Skiing and Riding through the Resort’s Defensible Space Program
Diamond Peak staff and the US Forest Service continue to work to improve the health and safety of the forest at the Resort. Forest thinning during the summer helps reduce fire danger by increasing defensible space, but has the added benefit of making tree skiing even better. Look for new off-piste skiable terrain in the trees between Battleborn and Sunnyside, located off of Crystal Ridge.

Season Pass Perks at Homewood Mountain Resort
Diamond Peak and Homewood Mountain Resort Pass holders can now enjoy the best views of Lake Tahoe from both the East and West Shores. New for 2013/14, Diamond Peak and Homewood Mountain Resort have announced a reciprocal Season Pass program, in which Season Pass holders will receive 4 free, non-holiday lift tickets to the other resort. Increased Snowmaking Capacity
As many Tahoe area resorts have learned recently, snowmaking is a key component in building up a good base and maintaining great conditions when Mother Nature decides not to help. This season Diamond Peak added five new fan guns, boosting the snowmaking fleet by 50% and significantly increasing snowmaking capacity when conditions warrant. These guns are more energy efficient and will help support the new Terrain Based Teaching features on Schoolhouse, build up the terrain park, and maintain main traffic areas. “These new fan guns will help us maximize our system in key times and produce a better product,” stated Jack Coughlin, Slope Maintenance Manager, “but we’re all hoping for a big year.”

Website Facelift
The new and improved DiamondPeak.com will launch early November, making it easier for guests to navigate and prepare for their visit. The site will include an upgraded online store, allowing for online purchases of lift tickets in addition to the current offerings of Mini-Passes, Season Passes, Last Tracks and gift cards. DiamondPeak.com will be more interactive with a “What’s Happening at the Peak” social component that highlights Diamond Peak social network feeds in addition to guest photos and event updates.

Face/Off Fridays and College Deals
Every Friday, February 28-March 28, Diamond Peak will host a special event series for college students and those who just like to start their weekend early. Face/Off Fridays will kick off the weekend and feature deals for college students, rail jam competitions, games, prizes and DJs spinning tracks. Just minutes from Sierra Nevada College and less than an hour from University of Nevada Reno, Truckee Meadows Community College, and Sierra College in Truckee, students can join in on the fun before, after or even between classes.
