Incline Village, NV… The suspect in an armed robbery that occurred early this year at a Chevron in Incline Village was found guilty on four felony counts by a Washoe District Court jury on September 11, 2013.
Jorge Miranda-Rivas, a resident of Incline Village, was found guilty on one count each of Robbery with a Deadly Weapon, Discharging a Weapon from within a Structure, Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Grand Larceny of an Automobile for his part in the robbery which occurred on January 2, 2013 at the Chevron on Tahoe Boulevard.
At approximately 8:45 p.m., Miranda-Rivas entered the Chevron his face masked by a bandana, and wearing a heavy jacket and hood. He demanded money from the clerk, struck the clerk, discharged a revolver inside the store and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. There were no other patrons in the store at the time of the robbery.
A Washoe County Sheriff’s Office investigation led to the arrest of Miranda-Rivas and two juvenile suspects on January 10, 2013. A fourth suspect, Jorge Torres, was arrested in June. This comprehensive investigation involved personnel from Detectives, Patrol, the Forensic Science Division, Regional Gang Unit and Support Specialist staff. Additional assistance was provided by the Placer County Sheriff’s Office and California Highway Patrol. The Washoe County District Attorney’s Office prosecuted the case.
“The successful prosecution of this violent crime was the result of an intense effort by staff from every division within the Sheriff’s Office, along with our partner agencies, who are dedicated to fulfilling our commitment to provide for the safety and security of the public,” Undersheriff Tim Kuzanek said.
Miranda-Rivas is scheduled to be sentenced on November 7, 2013 and faces prison sentences for each of the four felony convictions.
