Gardnerville, NV…On Monday night, 08/12/13, at approximately 9:40 pm, deputies of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in the 1400 block of Angora Dr, in the Gardnerville Ranchos, reference a call of shots fired.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered a deceased male lying in the driveway at the residence. An adult female was also present.

The male was identified as 37 year-old David Woffinden. The female was identified as David’s wife, 34 year-old Kimberly Woffinden.

Initial investigation revealed David and Kimberly had been engaged in a verbal argument, during which time David retrieved a handgun from the residence. When the argument escalated, David shot at Kimberly with a single shot, striking her in the leg. Investigators believe, David then turned the gun on himself, shooting himself with a single shot to the chest.

David Woffinden died at the scene. Kimberly Woffinden was transported by paramedics to the Carson Valley Medical Center where she was treated for her injury.

Investigation into the incident continues.
