Kyburz Fire at 615 Acres, 40% Contained

Kyburz, CA…The Kyburz Fire began on July 8 at 12:41 approximately 1/2 mile east of 29 Mile Post west of Kyburz California. More that 800 personnel are supporting fire fighting activity. Overnight, crews made good progress building fire line around the perimeter of the fire. The fire is officially 40% contained. Crews today will continue building and improving firelines. The fire is estimated to be 615 acres in size. The acerage increase is due to better mapping.

Campground facilities in the Crystal Basin are open. Granite Springs Road is closed. Please check the Caltrans website for the latest road information: http://www.dot.ca.gov./hq/roadinfo/us50
