Bomb Threat and DUI Arrest in Stateline

Stateline, NV…On March 30, 2013, at 2258 hours, a Douglas County Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a black Dodge SRT8 at Hwy 50 and Kahle Drive, in Stateline, NV. The driver, 29 year old Adam Smith from Minden, NV, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. At the time, Deputies noticed a wire from the front seat to the trunk. They asked Smith about the wire and, he told them, “It’s a Bomb”.

As a precaution, Nevada Highway Patrol, the Tahoe Douglas Fire Department, the Tahoe Douglas Bomb Squad, FBI and the Nevada Department of Transportation were called to the scene. Hwy 50 was closed and traffic had to be diverted around the scene for several hours while, the bomb squad investigated the vehicle.

At approximately 4:00 am, it was determined that this was a hoax and no explosives were located inside the vehicle.

Smith’s has been booked into the jail on charges of DUI and Bomb Threat with a bail amount of $26,500.
