Golf Cart, Clubs and Champagne Stolen in Greenhorn Creek to Attempt Slow Speed Trip to Citrus Heights! Suspect Made it to Copperopolis

Angels Camp, CA…At approximately 5 AM, on 01-01-13, an officer from the Angels Camp PD was briefed by the C.H.P., regarding a D.U.I. arrest the C.H.P. made near Copperopolis. The C.H.P. officer advised that they arrested John Scott Vishion, a 46 year-old Citrus Heights, CA resident, for driving under the influence. Vishion was reported by the C.H.P. as driving a “Club Car” golf cart that he admitted he took from a residence somewhere in the vicinity of the Greenhorn Creek subdivision in Angels Camp.

Later that morning, at approximately 8:44 AM, an officer from the Angels Camp PD responded to an address on Smith Flat Road to take a report of a stolen golf cart. The victim reported that sometime after 11:40 PM on New Year’s Eve, an unknown suspect entered their garage and took their golf cart, golf clubs, and five bottles of champagne. After taking the burglary report from the victim, the officer drove to the Calaveras County Jail to interview Vishion.

Vishion, who had been staying at the Trendwest Wyndham Resort in Angels Camp, admitted to entering the garage and taking the golf cart. Vishion said that he left the resort and began walking, after being involved in an argument. As he was walking he said that he saw the golf cart in the garage, unplugged it from the wall charger, loaded several bottles of alcohol into the golf cart and began driving. Vishion stated that his intent was to drive the golf cart back to Citrus Heights, but he made a wrong turn onto SR 4 and became lost. Vishion admitted that he was lucky that he was not involved in a collision during his approximately 13.5 mile drive in the stolen golf cart.

After completing the interview with Vishion at the jail, the following additional charges were added to the arrest affidavit; Burglary, Theft of a Vehicle, Possession of Stolen Property, and Grand Theft, all felony charges.

The victim is making the necessary arrangements to retrieve their golf cart, golf clubs, and their champagne.
