County Seeking To Fill Seats On Two Advisory Councils In The Tahoe Area

Auburn, CA…Placer County is seeking applications to fill upcoming vacancies on 5th District advisory bodies that serve Meadow Vista, Foresthill and the Weimar-Applegate-Colfax area.

The deadline is Friday, Jan. 11for submitting applications to serve on the Meadow Vista Advisory Council, Foresthill Forum Advisory Council or Weimar-Applegate-Colfax Municipal Advisory Council (WAC MAC).

Commonly known as MACs, the county’s 14 municipal advisory councils advise the Board of Supervisors on issues of public interest in unincorporated areas. The councils are charged with gathering public comment on a range of topics, including land use, public works, recreation, law enforcement and public health and safety.

The terms of current members of the Meadow Vista, Foresthill and WAC MACs are scheduled to end on Jan. 31, 2013. Current members will be reappointed to new two-year terms in many cases, but each of the three advisory bodies is expected to have at least one vacant seat that will not be filled by reappointing a current member.

Fifth District Supervisor Jennifer Montgomery will review the applications and recommend candidates for approval by the full board.

The members of each MAC must reside, own property or own or manage businesses within the MAC’s boundaries.

The five-member Meadow Vista MAC normally meets at 6 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month. Meetings take place in Room #2 of Placer Hills School, 16801 Placer Hills Road.

Meetings of the seven-member Foresthill Forum typically are held at 7 p.m. on the first Monday of each month in the Foresthill Veterans Memorial Hall, 24601 Harrison Road.

The WAC MAC represents Weimar, Applegate and unincorporated areas around Colfax. It generally meets at 6 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month in the Colfax City Hall, 33 South Main St.
