Kingvale, CA…On December 10, 2012 at approximately 0800 hours, a gold Dodge Ram 1500 was being driven on 1-80 eastbound, east of Kingvale by 44 year old Edwin Schuler from Modesto, CA. The pickup was traveling at approximately 65 mph in the #1 lane.

For reasons still under investigation, Mr. Schuler allowed his vehicle to drift to the left onto the median shoulder. The driver then abruptly over corrected the steering of the Dodge to the right. The vehicle began to fishtail from left to right causing the driver to loose control.

The vehicle traversed back across the #1 lane and the median shoulder where it overturned down the center median embankment. As a result of the overturn the vehicle’s driver compartment was crushed causing the driver to sustain fatal injuries. Truckee Fire Department pronounced the driver deceased at 8:22am.

This collision is still under investigation and alcohol was determined not to be a contributing factor in this collision. Any witnesses are encouraged to contact Truckee CHP at 530.582.7570.
