Economic Forum Next Week!

South Lake Tahoe, CA…The words recession and economy appear in local and national newspapers daily but rarely do we get an opportunity to delve into our local economy and understand what’s behind the numbers. Similarly, citizens don’t often have a chance to get engaged in economic revitalization concepts.

In order to provide all citizens with such an opportunity a group of partners has come together to present a “State of the South Shore Economy” Forum on Tuesday October 23rd taking place at Embassy Suites. The event will kick off at 5 pm with a social hour followed by the forum from 6pm to 8pm. Speakers and topics for the evening will feature: Tahoe Prosperity Center Chairman, Thomas Greene, TahoeChamber Chairman, Casey Blann, Strategic Marketing Group President, Carl Ribaudo, Tahoe Resource Conservation District Executive Director, John Skeel and TahoeChamber President & CEO, “B” Gorman.

Ribaudo will present an overview of the South Shore’s economy from the perspective of tourism, while Gorman will present a video from the TahoeChamber June 2012 Chamber Trek to Monterey, Livermore, and Sacramento. John Skeel and Thomas Greene will facilitate the evening’s activities and will ask participants and speakers to explore where our competitors may have had to overcome challenges similar to those our community faces. Additionally, the facilitators will guide participants through a process whereby residents, business people and community leaders will describe and diagram their concepts for economic revitalization implementation for the south shore.

The forum is being presented by the Tahoe Prosperity Center, Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority, and TahoeChamber. All public are invited and encouraged to attend this unique opportunity being sponsored by the City of South Lake Tahoe and Douglas County, including the reception preceding the forum.

TahoeChamber.org is a membership organization representing over 650 south shore businesses dedicated to developing and improving the south shore economy with respect for the environment. Tahoe Prosperity Center is a newly formed 501 (c) 3 intended to provide a collaborative regional entity to support economic development initiatives.
