SACRAMENTO—Assemblywoman Beth Gaines, R-Rocklin, today responded to Comcast’s announcement to move three call-centers amounting to 1,000 jobs to Oregon, Washington, and Colorado. Andrew Johnson, regional vice president of Comcast California said the reason for moving from California was related to the high cost of doing business.

“Our state has to stop treating businesses like the enemy and start treating them as a valuable asset to our communities,” Gaines said. “When a business leaves the state, we lose valuable tax dollars for our children’s education.”

“Our current legislature does not know the implications of all the additional regulations they are placing on businesses,” Gaines said. “As a small business owner myself, I am willing to reach across the aisle to do anything we can to encourage businesses to remain in California.”

Assemblywoman Beth Gaines represents the 4th Assembly District, which includes portions of Placer, El Dorado, Sacramento and Alpine counties.
