Hawthorne, NV…On July 11, 2012 at approximately 1:53pm, NHP troopers responded to a near head-on accident
on US95 near mile marker 40 in Mineral County. Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2004
Chevrolet pickup truck towing a Keystone camper trailer was traveling northbound toward
Hawthorne when for unknown reasons lost control. The pickup crossed the center line and rolled.
The trailer became detached from the pickup and also rolled. A southbound vehicle, a 2008
Mitsubishi SUV, swerved to the dirt shoulder at the right of the highway to avoid the pickup and
trailer, but struck the pickup in its top. The rear passenger in the pickup was pronounced deceased at
the scene.

The highway was not blocked, however, traffic was slowed during the investigation.

Occupants of the Chevrolet Pickup:
Driver; 44 year old Marie Stark of Las Vegas, Nv was transported to Mt. Grant General Hospital in
Hawthorne, Nv. Via ground ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.
Right front passenger; 74 year old John Joines of Las Vegas, Nv was transported to Mt. Grant General
Hospital in Hawthorne, Nv via ground ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.
Right rear passenger; 74 year old Anna Joines of Las Vegas, Nv was pronounced deceased at the
scene.

Occupants of the Mitsubishi SUV:
Driver; 26 year old Seth Cossell of Henderson Nv was not injured
Right Front Passenger; 42 year old Patrick Donovan of Henderson, Nv was not injured
