South Lake Tahoe, CA…On June 29, 2012 South Lake Tahoe Police responded to the area of 11th Street and Eloise Avenue on a report of a male subject having been stabbed. Police and Fire arrived in the area and located a 22 year old male who had a stab injury to his arm. The male was transported to Barton Hospital for treatment. The suspect was described as a white male adult wearing a Boston Celtics hat, blue plaid shorts, and a back pack. The suspect was last seen running west across Emerald Bay Road and up into the area of 10th Street and Roger Avenue. With assistance from El Dorado County Sheriff and CHP, Police set up a perimeter in the area and searched for the suspect for about an hour, but were unable to locate him.
It appears the suspect was riding a skate board in the area of 11th Street and Eloise Avenue and the victim was riding a bike. Some sort of altercation occurred between them and the suspect stabbed the victim and ran.
Officers conducting the investigation were able to identify several suspects in the case. Officers responded to a location on Kokanee Trail in El Dorado County in an attempt to locate possible suspect. During the contact a 17 year old male juvenile was identified as being involved in the incident but was not the suspect who had stabbed the victim. The 17 year old juvenile was taken into custody as a result of his involvement in the incident and a violation of his probation. The sister of the 17 year old, Sonya Klempner, was also at the location and obstructed the investigation resulting in her arrest and being booked into the El Dorado County Jail.
Officers continued to follow several leads in the case and were able to identify a 16 year male as the person who committed the stabbing. On June 30th at approximately 12:30 P.M. officers located the 16 year old suspect at an apartment on Blackwood Trail. The 16 year old was taken into custody without incident with the assistance of El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office.
This is incident does not appear to be gang related.
