CARSON CITY, NV – Governor Brian Sandoval today announced he has appointed Kerry Earley to the 8th Judicial District Court.
“Kerry’s breadth of experience in the law will suit her well on the bench,” Sandoval said. “She has handled some of the most complex cases in the history of our state and is a well-respected member of the bar. I have confidence she will treat attorneys and litigants with respect and dignity.”
Currently a Lead Litigation Attorney, Independent Contractor at the Richard Harris Law Firm in Las Vegas, Earley is a graduate of Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri and holds a JD from the University of San Diego Law School. From September 1978 until May 1979, Earley was a part time law clerk for the United States Attorney in San Diego. She was a member of the University of San Diego Law School Law Review and held a legal internship at the Legal Women’s Center.
Earley was admitted to the Nevada Bar in September of 1982. Prior to her current work, Earley practiced law in her own firm, specializing in civil litigation with an emphasis on the defense of complex and high exposure cases. From 1988 to January 1993, Earley served as Managing Partner at Baker, Gillock, Koning, Brown and Earley, LLC where she concentrated on medical malpractice, primarily defending hospitals and physicians.
For the last five years, 99% of Earley’s work has involved cases in litigation and she is admitted to practice law in California. Earley worked on the MGM Grand Hotel Fire Litigation from 1981 to 1983 and notes it had a significant impact on her legal career, giving her the unprecedented opportunity that laid a strong foundation in litigation for the rest of her career.
