CARSON CITY, NV – Governor Brian Sandoval today announced he has appointed Adriana Escobar to the 8th Judicial District Court.

“Adriana has served on the Public Utilities Commission and as the Consumer Advocate,” Sandoval said. “Combined with her service in private practice and her experience as a deputy city attorney, I am confident Adriana will be a strong addition to the 8th Judicial District bench.”

Currently a Deputy Attorney General at the Office of the Nevada Attorney General, Escobar is a graduate of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and California Western School of Law, where she was on the Dean’s Honor List and received the Faculty Academic Achievement Award in Arbitration. She was also appointed to the California Superior Court Internship Program in the Spring of 1991.

Admitted to the Nevada Bar in 1993, Escobar is also admitted to the California Bar. Prior to her work as a Deputy Attorney General, Escobar worked as Special Counsel at Fox Rothschild LLP in Las Vegas where she represented clients in corporate, immigration and administrative law matters. From January 2005 until November 2005, Escobar served as Consumer Advocate, Chief Deputy Attorney General where she was head of the Bureau of Consumer Protection. Escobar was responsible for representing Nevada consumers in all matters before the Public Utilities Commission and supervised complex civil litigation and criminal prosecutions in the areas of securities fraud, deceptive trade practices and multi jurisdictional class action law suits.

From February 2001 to December 2004, Escobar served as a Commissioner at the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada. She has also worked in business litigation and transactional practice in her own firm as well as an associate attorney at Dunbar & Dunbar PLC in California.
