Minden, NV…The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office reports that the Friday night celebration of the 2012 Carson Valley Days event in downtown Gardnerville was well attended and relatively peaceful.

The celebratory crowd seemed no larger than in years past.

U.S. Hwy 395 did not have to be closed during the event due to effective crowd control by deputies and the cooperation of celebrants in remaining out of the roadway during the festivities.

DCSO deputies provided rides home to several celebrants who were too intoxicated to drive.

Nine persons were arrested during the event for charges of: Battery on a Peace Officer, Battery (Non-Peace Officer), Disorderly Conduct, Trespassing, Obstructing a Peace Officer, Minor Consuming Alcohol, Civil Protective Custody and Parole & Probation Violations.

The various public safety and support agencies involved in this event worked extremely well together.

Sheriff Ron Pierini extends his gratitude to the men and women of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, East Fork Fire and Paramedic Districts, Douglas County Emergency Communications Center, and Carson Valley Active 20/30 Club for ensuring the event remained safe for all attendees.

Sheriff Pierini extends his appreciation to the citizens of Douglas County for their cooperation with the road closure of U.S. Hwy 395 through town on Saturday morning to accommodate the annual Carson Valley Days Parade.
