INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. – Celebrity Winterfest® will take place at Diamond Peak Ski Resort on March 3, 2012. This event is the largest fundraiser of the year for Special Olympics Northern California & Nevada. Proceeds from the weekend will provide much-needed funding to ensure that 16,000 athletes across Nevada and Northern California can continue to receive free training and competition throughout the year for its sports programs.
Celebrity Winterfest® is a high profile, ski race that will feature corporate teams paired with a Special Olympics athlete and a celebrity skier. Hollywood celebrities, business leaders and Special Olympics athletes will meet and compete during an action-packed weekend at Lake Tahoe.
Diamond Peak Ski Resort will host a dual giant slalom race on Saturday, March 3. Those skiing at Diamond Peak during the Celebrity Winterfest® are welcome to stop by and watch the competition. Results from the day will be announced at an awards dinner at the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, Spa and Casino, where guests will be treated to entertainment, dinner and a live auction.
The event concludes on Sunday with “Plungefest”, an opportunity for brave souls with warm hearts to raise additional funds for Special Olympics by taking a quick “dip” in the chilly waters of Lake Tahoe, along with the celebrities and corporate teams. This activity will take place at the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Private Beach.
