On Sunday, February 5, 2012 at approximately 1:20 a.m., the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a victim at Renown Regional Medical Center, suffering from life-threatening injuries. Patrol units responded and were later advised the victim, a 19 year-old white male Reno resident, was deceased. The victims name is being withheld pending a formal identification and notification of next of kin by the Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Through the investigation, Deputies learned that the victim had been at a large gathering near a motocross race track off the dirt extension of Lemmon Drive earlier in the evening on Saturday, February 4th. While at the gathering, the victim received traumatic injuries and was transported to the hospital by his friends. He was pronounced deceased shortly after arriving at the emergency room. Sheriff’s Detectives responded to continue the investigation.
Detectives are investigating the death as a suspicious death pending the results of an autopsy scheduled for Monday morning. Detectives have interviewed some of the party-goers and are actively seeking anyone with information. Detectives believe many people may have witnessed the events that led to this death and their assistance is needed.
