A new Community Relations Manager has been appointed to represent Washoe County. Nancy Leuenhagen will be working with the County Commissioners, County department heads, and County Manager Katy Simon and her staff at the County Manager’s Office. Leuenhagen comes to the team most recently from the Communications Department at the Washoe County School District where she served as the Public Information Officer and Communications Manager. Prior to working at the school district and moving to Reno, Leuenhagen had worked as a television journalist and radio talk-show host in the Midwest.
Simon says she is looking forward to Leuenhagen joining the team. “This is a vital position to fill at Washoe County as we need to continue to get to get the word out on the great work that is being done by our employees for the people of Washoe County. Nancy’s previous work with the local, regional and statewide media brings us additional resources to tell the story of the critical public services our citizens rely on us for.” Leuenhagen was introduced today to the Washoe County Commissioners, who welcomed her to the County.
Leuenhagen says, “I am extremely proud to be working for Washoe County as the next Community Relations Manager. As a former member of the media, I look forward to continuing the relationships I’ve built with the journalists in Northern Nevada and relaying the great work of the employees at Washoe County.”
Leuenhagen replaces Kathy Carter, who left the County in August of 2011 to be the Communications Director at Renown.
