Washoe County Library System announced today that the deadline to apply for a position on the Library Board of Trustees has been extended to Monday, July 11th.
The Library Board of Trustees appoints the Library Director and evaluates his or her performance, helps set Library goals and objectives, approves policies, monitors the Library’s finances, evaluates the Library’s overall effectiveness and advocates for the Library in the community. Trustees are appointed by the Washoe County Board of Commissioners.
Individuals interested in serving on the Board of Trustees must be residents of Washoe County and cannot be elected office-holders. They should be aware of the Library’s role in the community as a center of information, culture, recreation and lifelong learning. Trustees must also be willing to devote the necessary time and effort to perform the duties of Trustees, including preparing for and attending all Board meetings, which are normally held on the third Wednesday of every month at 4 p.m. The term of service is four years.
