Mr. Wade Kelly Apprehended at 12:30pm

At approximately 12:30 p.m. today Mr. Wade Kelly was apprehended following an extensive manhunt in the Round Hill area of Lake Tahoe. Mr. Kelly was being sought on suspicion of committing battery with a deadly weapon.

Mr. Kelly was found hiding in the woods near Round Hill Pines beach after being spotted by residents trying to cover himself with pine needles in an effort to hide from authorities. The residents alerted Sheriff’s Deputies who had established a perimeter in the area. The Washoe County Sheriff’s helicopter was alerted, and hovered overhead the area where Kelly was believed to be hiding while members of the Douglas County Sheriff’s SWAT team and K-9 Unit moved in.

Mr. Kelly was apprehended by SWAT and K-9 officers without incident, and turned over to Washoe County Deputies who transported Kelly to the Washoe County Jail. Mr. Kelly was not armed at the time of his arrest.

Sheriff Ron Pierini would like to thank the men and women of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, the Nevada Highway Patrol, and members of the media for their assistance in apprehending Mr. Kelly.
