Auburn, CA…Last Wednesday, the Placer County Sheriff’s Honor Guard attended the funeral of San Diego Police Officer Dan Walters. Officer Walters passed away on April 23, 2021, due to complications from a 2003 injury. In 2003, Officer Walters was on a traffic stop in Southcrest when the suspect shot Officer Walters in the neck, and then Walters was hit by a passing car. The injuries left him paralyzed from the neck down. Officer Walters had been with SDPD for five years. Before his career in law enforcement, Walters was a catcher for the San Diego Padres.

We are deeply saddened by Officer Walters passing, and our thoughts go out to his family, friends and fellow officers.
