Mt. Rose, NV…15 year old Galena High School Sophomore, Maison T. Ortiz has died  after a freak accident at Mt. Rose Ski Area.  On a very icy run Ortiz and a friend decided it would be safer to walk down the run.  They removed their snowboards and helmets and were walking down when Maison slipped and slide into a tree.

He was medi-flighted to a local hospital with serious head injuries.  He subsequently lost his battle for life.   The accident occurred early Wednesday afternoon.
