Gardnerville, NV…On Tuesday, January 18^th, 2011, Investigators of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office arrested two juvenile brothers, ages 17 and 15, for a rash of vehicle burglaries that occurred in the Gardnerville Ranchos over the last two months.

The arrests came at the end of several weeks of investigation into the crimes. Key information came in the form of anonymous tip regarding the two teens suddenly coming into possession of numerous pieces of property – including expensive electronic items. Instrumental in investigating and solving the case collaboratively were DCSO Deputy Ron Skibinski, DCSO School Resource Officer John Meyer and DCSO Investigator Jon Storke.

The suspect teens, names withheld due to age, have been released to Douglas County Juvenile Probation.

The burglaries, which occurred on various dates and locales between November, 2010 and January, 2011, were committed to unlocked/unsecured vehicles parked in the Ranchos.

Taken in the thefts were miscellaneous loose currency and change, and various electronic items (digital cameras, MP3 players, GPS units, laptop computer). In one incident, a firearm was stolen.

The majority of victims have been identified and respective property returned, including the firearm; however remaining are several items of property that have not been identified as belonging to a specific victim/owner.

Anyone who has been a victim of a vehicle burglary in the Gardnerville Ranchos or surrounding residential neighborhoods in the last two months, wherein electronic items were stolen, is asked to call the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division at 782-9905 to describe the property for possible identification.
