Reno, CA…Shortly after 8:00 this morning, Washoe County Sheriff’s – Hasty Team members, along with deputies and detectives were called out to Olinghouse for a mining accident.
A 75-year-old hobbyist was mining with a friend near the remote mining camp/ghost town. The ground beneath him caved in, and the man succumbed to his injuries.
HASTY volunteers worked tirelessly to remove the man from the collapse, while working on unstable ground. They were able to free the man from the collapse after 1:00 this afternoon. Our sincere condolences go out to the man’s friend, who attempted to rescue him at the scene, and to the man’s family.
