NWS Reno Says Strong Gusty Winds Impacting Reno/Tahoe Area

Reno, NV…A Pacific storm will begin to impact the region on Monday with gusty to strong southwest winds across the eastern Sierra and western Nevada. Winds for Monday afternoon through the evening are forecast to be sustained at 20 to 30 mph with gusts of up to 50 mph. Gusts could reach around 70 mph for wind prone locations including portions of Highway 395 in Mono County, Washoe Valley, and the North Valleys.

Even stronger gusts are expected along the Sierra ridges during this time. Blowing dust and rough conditions on area lakes are anticipated with heightened fire concerns for Mono County due to the lack of precipitation. Be prepared!
