South Lake Tahoe, CA…City Council chose a new Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem at their meeting today. Tamara
Wallace, who had been Mayor Pro Tem, will be Mayor for the next year. Devin Middlebrook will be the City’s
next Mayor Pro Tem. “It is an honor to be selected by my colleagues to be the next Mayor of the City of South Lake Tahoe,” said Mayor Wallace, “Our City is facing unprecedented challenges, and tough decisions in the coming months. I know we can all work together to continue to keep Tahoe strong.”
Wallace has lived in Tahoe for more than 20 years with her husband Duane as well as her children and
grandchildren. She was elected to City Council in 2018. Devin Middlebrook was born and raised in Tahoe. He
will also serve as Mayor Pro Tem for the next year. This is his first term on Council as well.
“As a council we have accomplished a lot in our short time together,” said Mayor Pro Tem Middlebrook, “We
have thoughtful discussions, and have made good decisions on behalf of the people we represent. We will
continue to do that, and I’m proud to help lead our City in a positive direction.”
The Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem positions are not elected, instead City Council made the decision to rotate who
serves in those roles every year.
“This Council has found a way to work together, discuss their differences, and make decisions with the best
interest of our residents at heart,” said City Manager Joe Irvin, “Though the leadership changed today, the
charge is the same, leave Tahoe better than you found it. The new Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem will undoubtedly
do just that.”
