Douglas County Proposed changes to Monthly Sewer Rates

On February 3, 2011, the Douglas County Board of Commissioners will be voting on a proposed Resolution amending the monthly sewer rates for the County owned Sewer Utility.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
BY DOUGLAS COUNTY ON PROPOSED
CHANGES TO MONTHLY SEWER RATES FOR
THE COUNTY SEWER UTILITY
By way of Resolution, the Douglas County Board of County Commissioners (Board) may amend the monthly sewer rates for the County owned Sewer Utility as follows:
Monthly Sewer Rate per Equivalent Dwelling Unit (EDU):
Existing $51.02
Proposed – Effective March 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012 $58.09
Proposed – Effective July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013 $70.07
Assuming adoption of the proposed Resolution, the owners of properties subject to such monthly rates or charges are those currently being serviced by the Douglas County Sewer Utility.

2, P.O. Box 218, Minden, NV, or by calling (775) 783-6480, which can also be called if you are uncertain as to what sewer utility system is available to your property, or currently provides sewer service to your property.

Assuming adoption of the proposed Resolution, the monthly sewer rates imposed thereby will become effective as shown above. Except for the monthly charges, no other changes to the existing fees and charges are proposed. The remaining fees or charges must be paid on or before the 1st day of every month with a ten (10) day grace period. Users or customers will be charged a penalty of up to six
percent (6%) per annum on the unpaid balance of delinquent fees or charges.

Delinquent fees or charges, including such penalty, will constitute a lien against the lots or parcels of land to which the water services are furnished or available.

Notice shall be in the form of the regular monthly billings and a lien will be delivered by the Board to the County Recorder for recordation in a book kept for the purpose of recording instruments encumbering land, and indexed in the real estate index in accordance with NRS 318.202(9).

A public hearing on the proposed Resolution will be held during the regularly scheduled Board of County Commissioners meeting on February 3, 2011, at the Douglas County Administration Building (Historic Courthouse), 1616 8th Street, Minden, NV 89423. At the conclusion of the February 3, 2011 meeting, the Board may adopt the proposed Resolution.

All persons who may be affected by the proposed Resolution are invited to attend the meeting and shall be afforded a reasonable opportunity to submit data, reviews or arguments orally or in writing at the place, date and time of the agenda item for the meeting. Persons may appear at such meeting and present any and all objections or protests they may have to the proposed Resolution.
