Temporary Closure of Ebbetts, Sonora & Monitor Passes Due to Inclement Weather.

Markleeville, CA…The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has temporarily closed State Route 4/Ebbetts Pass, Route 89/Monitor Pass and Route 108/Sonora Pass due to inclement weather. All three passes were temporarily closed Monday morning for the safety of the traveling public with snowfall predicted to impact the mountain region in the next few days. There is no estimated time of reopening the passes.

Caltrans Maintenance crews and agency partners will monitor the highways and passes and continually evaluate the situation.

• Route 4 is closed a half-mile east of the junction of Route 207/Mt. Reba turnoff to 2.4 miles of the junction of Route 89/Ebbetts Pass in Alpine County.

• Route 89 is closed from the junction of U.S. 395 in Mono County to the junction of Route 4/Monitor Pass in Alpine County.

• Route 108 is closed from 7.2 miles east of Strawberry to 5.3 miles west of the junction of U.S. 395/Sonora Pass in Tuolumne and Mono counties.
