Legislation Introduced to Create Special Committee to Review the Governor’s Innovation Zones Proposal

Carson City, NV…The Senate Committee on Legislative Operations introduced Senate Concurrent Resolution 11 (SCR 11) to create a joint special committee to analyze and explore the Innovation Zones proposal beyond the 2021 Legislative Session.

The concept of Innovation Zones was introduced during the Governor’s 2021 State of the State address as a way to help advance new and innovative technologies and accelerate the State’s growing economic diversification. The goal was to create the ability to attract advanced technology industries prepared to significantly invest in Nevada’s success and create good-paying jobs.

To ensure the Governor’s Innovation Zones proposal receives the vetting and review it warrants and needs through the creation of a joint special committee that will tasked with reviewing the necessary analysis and exploration of Innovation Zone issues. SCR 11 creates the joint special committee and requires Legislative Leadership to appoint members of the committee, including members from each house representing the majority and minority parties.
