Reclamation Announces 30-Day Public Comment Period for Truckee-Carson Irrigation District 25-year Renewal Contract

Fallon, NV….The Bureau of Reclamation announced today a 30-day public comment period for a 25-year contract renewal of the transfer of operation, maintenance, and replacement activities related to the Newlands Project to the Truckee-Carson Irrigation District.

This district is the non-federal operating entity for the Newlands Project, including the Truckee Division near Fernley and the Carson Division near Fallon, both in western Nevada.

The Newlands Project, one of the first Reclamation projects, provides irrigation water from the Truckee and Carson rivers – about 57,000 acres of cropland in the Lahontan Valley by Fallon and bench lands by Fernley.
