Give Mom a Plan & Peace of Mind for Mother’s Day!

Truckee, CA…Flowers or a family meal might be part of your Mother’s Day plans, but here is something you can do for mom or in mom’s honor that will last for years. It’s about protecting loved ones and keeping them safe.  For Mother’s Day this year, get ready for natural disasters, power shut offs, or emergency situations by going through our Truckee resources, discussing the information with your family, and making and sharing your emergency plan. Think of it as giving the gift of reassurance and peace of mind.

Here’s what we would recommend:

1️⃣ Download and go through the Ready, Set, Go! Handbook, including the organize section which you can fill out with your family plan, including a plan for your pets.

You can download it and find even more information, including a short film, at ReadyNevadaCounty.org

2️⃣ Know your Evacuation Zone so that you know exactly when information about evacuations relates to you and your area. It help us all to share relevant information more quickly; however you get your information, web, radio, print or even word of mouth.

Know Your Zone in 3 Easy Steps:
1. Visit community.zonehaven.com
2. Enter your address into the search bar
3. Find your zone in the pop-up window and write it down

3️⃣ Sign up for Nixle notifications. Nixle keeps you up-to-date with relevant information from your local public safety departments. Emergency Alerts will always go out via SMS, email, web, and the Nixle mobile app. Less urgent Advisory and Community messages will only be delivered to the email address on file and the mobile app, which also gives you a Map view of notifications and the ability to manage multiple Zip Code and Keyword subscriptions.

To receive notifications you can text your zip code to 888-777, download the Everbridge Nixle Mobile App on your smartphone, or go to www.Nixle.com and register for Nixle notifications.
