CPR In Progress At Incline Middle School

Incline Village, CA…CPR saves lives no matter how old or how young, how small or how tall you are. North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District personnel will be at the Incline Middle School (IMS) March 16th and 17th, teaching our 7th graders CPR protocols. One of many programs offered by the Fire District’s Community Safety & Education Team, the students will learn rescuer skills in CPR and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction as well as proper usage of the automated external defibrillator (AED) which is used for victims of cardiac arrest.

With the help and coordination of the Fire District and Incline Middle School, this CPR program has been integrated into the IMS curriculum and teaching plan for the last 21 years. The course is taught in the gymnasium during the 7th grade physical education class schedule.

An additional part of the CPR program talks about the adult, child and infant Chain of Survival as well as signs of heart attack, cardiac arrest, stroke and choking in adults. Also included in the lesson plan are signs of choking in infants and children, prevention of sudden infant death syndrome, and prevention of the most common fatal injuries in infants and children.

North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District offers CPR/AED classes every month as well as First Aid and Healthcare Provider courses. Please visit www.nltfpd.net for more information.
