Implications of Reno’s economic growth for the Tahoe region the focus of August luncheon

July 9, 2015 (South Lake Tahoe, CA/NV) – With major corporations like Tesla moving into Reno and with new jobs estimated at 52,000 in the next five years, many are left wondering how the explosive economic growth in Reno will impact the Tahoe Basin, its workforce and its local economy. Learn more about the anticipated growth and become a part of the conversation on Friday, August 7 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel for a Leadership Luncheon focusing on the implications of Reno’s growth and how we may prepare for what’s coming next for the South Shore economy.

The Leadership Luncheon features special guest speaker Mike Kazmierski, the CEO of the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada (EDAWN). Kazmierski leads a team of twelve economic development professionals who recruit, expand/retain and grow primary businesses that create quality jobs in the Reno-Sparks region. In the past three years, this team has assisted in the attraction of more than 60 new companies and the local expansion of another 25 companies.

Kazmierski will help facilitate a discussion to dig deeper into the possible scenarios for Tahoe associated with such development in Reno. Together as a group the participants will begin to identify steps to take for the Tahoe region to ensure our workforce, businesses and economy are prepared for what’s next.
