CrossFit Lake Tahoe celebrates 10th anniversary with fun-filled weekend

South Lake Tahoe, CA…CrossFit Lake Tahoe will celebrate 10 years in business this weekend with a grand re-opening and ribbon cutting on Friday, June 26. The celebration continues on Saturday, June 27 with a special Open Gym Play and Learn event for those interested in better understanding CrossFit.

Owner Steve Wetterer opened CrossFit Lake Tahoe in 2006 as one of the first 100 CrossFit gyms in the world and the first CrossFit in Lake Tahoe. For the past decade Wetterer has provided a safe way to train people to their maximum genetic potential. As the former Fitness Coordinator for the Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District, Wetterer understands the importance of a safe workout that allows individuals to leave the gym feeling like they can still perform their best.

“I trained fire, police and military personnel so CrossFit was a natural extension of that,” Wetterer said. “CrossFit combines the most productive training with the ultimate in safety.”

CrossFit Lake Tahoe offers small classes of six to eight people with one of four trainers, including Wetterer himself, as well as Iris Kamm, Garth Alling and Cindy Richter, all certified CrossFit instructors with years of experience as coaches and firefighters.

“[When hiring trainers] I look for experience and a keen eye for proper human movement,” Wetterer said.

A Tahoe local of 40 years, Wetterer has raised three children in the Basin: Dane, Chandelle and the youngest Steele, whom attends George Whittell High School. Wetterer is also a grandfather to five, but despite this Wetterer continues to push himself to his physical best and challenges others to do the same.

Wetterer, his family and his staff invite all to celebrate 10 years in business with the grand re-opening and ribbon cutting on June 26 at 4 p.m. Individuals that would like to learn more about CrossFit and its benefits are encouraged to attend the open house on June 27 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
