South Lake Tahoe, Calif. – The U.S. Forest Service Region 5 has announced that Jeff Marsolais has been selected as the new forest supervisor for the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit (LTBMU). Marsolais has served as the deputy forest supervisor for the LTBMU for the last three years, managing several complex projects and initiatives involving nationally recognized ski areas and recreation facilities. In 2014, he served as special assistant to the regional forester, providing strategic guidance and direction on hiring efforts for the Pacific Southwest Region.

Marsolais has worked for the Forest Service since the mid-1990s and served on seven different National Forests in the Pacific Southwest and Intermountain regions before arriving on the LTBMU. He worked for the Bureau of Land Management prior to that.

Marsolais has performed duties ranging from firefighter to recreation manager and held a variety of positions at both district and forest levels. He is skilled in building motivated teams, managing conflict and capitalizing on group diversity. Marsolais holds a bachelor’s degree in Natural Resources and Recreation Planning and a master’s degree in Natural Resources from Humboldt State University.
