Shooting Results in Arrest of Angelo Anderson for Assault with a Deadly Weapon

South Lake Tahoe, CA….A shooting occurred yesterday afternoon at 4:42pm in the area of Fawn Way. Police officers responded to investigate multiple reports of a man discharging shots from a handgun at a moving vehicle as it traveled on Fawn Way. This is a short, “L” shaped residential street one block south of US Highway 50. The preliminary investigation revealed that 57 year old Dennis McQuitty, a local resident of South Lake Tahoe, had been visiting a friend’s residence. As he was about to leave, McQuitty was seen by Angelo Anderson, a 22 year old male who also lives in the area. The two men are former co-workers with an acrimonious relationship. Anderson approached McQuitty while the victim was getting into a pickup truck. Anderson began making inflammatory remarks toward the victim. McQuitty closed his driver’s door to avoid a conflict, and started to drive away. Several witnesses then reported seeing Anderson raise a handgun and fire approximately three rounds at McQuitty’s truck as he drove on Fawn Avenue. Anderson then went back into his residence, a room at the A&A Lake Tahoe Inn (3520 Lake Tahoe Blvd), with his 23 year old girlfriend, Leslie Monroy.

When officers arrived, Leslie Monroy walked out of the motel room. She was detained but later released without charges. Shortly after this, Anderson came out of the same motel room and was taken into custody by an El Dorado County Sheriff’s Deputy assisting at the scene. Officers recovered the firearm used by Anderson. Officers discovered a bullet hole in the victim’s truck. The victim was uninjured. A search was made for other possible victims on Fawn Way, which could potentially have been struck with other discharged rounds. No other victims have been located.

Angelo Anderson was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and shooting into an inhabited vehicle. He has been booked into the El Dorado County Jail in South Lake Tahoe with a $100,000 bail. More charges may be pending as the investigation continues.
