Stateline, NV….Members of the iconic 1980s rock n’ roll band Dire Straits have launched a 25-city 2014 tour as The Straits with a March 28 stop at Lake Tahoe’s MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa (http://www.montbleuresort.com) for a one-night-only jam session featuring the legendary group’s best-known songs.

Reformed as The Straits and featuring members of the original lineup, the band’s legacy as a guitar-driven powerhouse is backed by a discography of classics such as “Money for Nothing,” “Sultans of Swing,” “Romeo and Juliet,” “Calling Elvis,” and the sports stadium anthem “Walk of Life.”

Dire Straits’ original members Alan Clark and Chris White re-engineered the four-time Grammy Award winning band with guitarist Terence Reis and drummer Steve Ferrone from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, bassist Michael “Mick” Féat, session guitarist Adam Phillips and keyboardist Jamie Squire. Due to prior engagements with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Ferrone will not appear on the March end of the tour.

While The Straits is without original founding member guitarist Mark Knopfler, Reis is noted for his uncanny guitar-playing similarities.

“Dire Straits without Mark Knopfler? – he’s such a huge part of Dire Straits with incredible talent,” said Alan Clark of Reis. “I always thought that was impossible until I found this guy.”
