Carson City, NV…For the sixth consecutive year, THE POLAR EXPRESS™ holiday train rides on the historic Virginia & Truckee Railroad have sold out. More than 15,000 passengers secured rides on the only train in Northern Nevada that visits the North Pole. (www.vtrailway.com)
Those hoping for “a holiday miracle on Eastgate Siding Road” may sign up for THE POLAR EXPRESS™ waitlist for notice of ticket availability through Dec. 23. Guests are also encouraged to sign up for the V&T Railroad email list for notifications about next season’s ticket sales, which will go on sale August 2017.
High demand for seats on THE POLAR EXPRESS™ began in August, with VIP tickets that included extra time with Santa Claus, a souvenir mug and festive treats, which quickly sold out. The V&T Railroad ride is based upon the holiday feature film and beloved children’s book by Chris Van Allsburg since its partnership began in 2011.
While tracing the steps of a doubting young boy who takes an extraordinary train ride to the North Pole on Christmas Eve, families relive the magic of THE POLAR EXPRESS™ in a one-hour journey filled with music, songs and a cast of characters. Hot chocolate and treats are served as passengers read along with the classic children’s book “The Polar Express” by Chris Van Allsburg. Santa Claus and his helpers greet passengers at the North Pole and then board where each child is given the first gift of Christmas – a silver sleigh bell. Elves in each train car lead families in Christmas carol favorites on the return to Carson City.
The boarding area at the Carson City Depot, Eastgate Siding Road offers indoor heated areas where riders can take photos with Santa Claus and purchase souvenirs. The V&T’s engine and holiday decorated passenger cars leave the Carson City Eastgate Depot (seven miles east of downtown Carson City) and travel nearly two miles before stopping at Santa’s North Pole retreat.
