Major Injuries to Motorcyclist on I-80 This Morning

Truckee, CA…There were major injuries to a 26 year old Reno man when he struck the back of the vehicle on I-80 this morning. According to CHP at approximately 11:10am this morning a Reno man was driving his 2009 Pontiac westbound on I-80, just west of Hirschdale Road in the #1 lane at approximately 45 mph. He slowed to 45 mph due to a construction zone approximately 1/4 miles from the collision area.

The 26, year old Reno man was riding his 2006 GSX-R 750 Suzuki at a very high rate of speed approaching the rear of the Pontiac. Due to his unsafe speed, he failed to slow down or change lanes and struck the right rear of the Pontiac. He was ejected off his motorcycle and came to a rest within the #1 of I-80.

He was air-lifted to Renown Hospital for his injuries. The driver and passenger of the Pontiac sustained no injuries.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
