URGENT – FIRE WEATHER MESSAGE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SACRAMENTO CA

…DRY THUNDERSTORMS POSSIBLE ON SATURDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING…

.DISCUSSION…LOW PRESSURE FORMING OFF THE CALIFORNIA COAST WILL
BRING A SHIFT IN THE UPPER LEVEL FLOW OVER THE WEEKEND WHICH WILL
BRING MONSOON MOISTURE NORTHWARD INTO THE AREA AND A THREAT OF
MOUNTAIN AND EVEN VALLEY THUNDERSTORMS. INITIALLY…SOME OF THESE
STORMS COULD CONTAIN LITTLE RAINFALL. THE POTENTIAL FOR DRY
THUNDERSTORMS COMBINED WITH VERY DRY FUELS WILL BRING THE
POTENTIAL FOR CRITICAL FIRE CONDITIONS SATURDAY AFTERNOON AND
EVENING OVER THE SIERRA NEVADA AND SOUTHERN CASCADES. THE
THUNDERSTORM THREAT LESSENS ON SUNDAY AS DRIER SOUTHWEST FLOW
DEVELOPS…WITH DRY SOUTHWEST FLOW AND STABLE WEATHER EARLY NEXT
WEEK.
