.STRONG LOW PRESSURE OVER THE NORTH PACIFIC WILL MOVE INTO THE
WEST COAST TODAY. THIS WILL DRIVE A COLD FRONT THROUGH THE SIERRA
AND WESTERN NEVADA. AHEAD OF THE COLD FRONT…STRONG SOUTH TO
SOUTHWEST WINDS ARE EXPECTED OVER A LARGE PORTION OF WESTERN
NEVADA AND EASTERN CALIFORNIA.

AFTERNOON.

* WINDS: INCREASING TO SOUTHWEST 25 TO 35 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 60
MPH.

* GUSTS OF 100 MPH OR MORE OVER THE SIERRA RIDGES.

* WAVE HEIGHTS: BUILDING TO 4 TO 6 FEET WITH THE HIGHEST WAVES
FROM MID LAKE TO THE NORTH AND EAST SHORES.

* BOATS WILL BE PRONE TO CAPSIZING AND SHOULD REMAIN OFF LAKE
WATERS UNTIL CONDITIONS IMPROVE.

* IMPACTS: STRONG WINDS MAY DAMAGE POWER LINES AND TREES.
MOTORISTS WILL EXPERIENCE DIFFICULT OR EVEN DANGEROUS DRIVING
CONDITIONS.

DAMAGE TO TREES…POWER LINES AND PROPERTY IS POSSIBLE WITH WINDS

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW AND GUSTY WINDS REMAINS IN
EFFECT FROM 2 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 5 AM PDT SUNDAY.

* TIMING: SNOW AND RAIN WILL DEVELOP ALONG THE SIERRA CREST THIS
MORNING WITH A PERIOD OF HEAVY RAIN AND SNOW ACROSS THE TAHOE
BASIN LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND EARLY THIS EVENING.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS: 8 TO 16 INCHES ABOVE 7000 FEET WITH UP TO 6
INCHES DOWN TO LAKE LEVEL. HIGHEST AMOUNTS WILL OCCUR ALONG AND
WEST OF HIGHWAY 89.

* WINDS: INCREASING TO 25 TO 35 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 60 MPH
TONIGHT THIS MORNING. SIERRA RIDGE GUSTS WILL EXCEED 100 MPH.

* SNOW LEVELS: 7000 TO 7500 FEET THIS MORNING LOWERING TO LAKE
LEVEL BY EARLY AFTERNOON.

* IMPACTS: STRONG GUSTY WINDS COMBINED WITH PERIODS OF HEAVY SNOW
WILL PRODUCE NEAR ZERO VISIBILITY AT TIMES OVER SIERRA PASSES.
CHAIN RESTRICTIONS ARE LIKELY THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

SNOW IS EXPECTED TO POSE AN INCONVENIENCE TO TRAVELERS. ROADS
WILL BECOME SLICK AND HAZARDOUS…WITH SNOW AND ICE FIRST
DEVELOPING ON BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES. MOTORISTS SHOULD SLOW DOWN
