Tahoe Area Snow Report for January 23, 2012

Lake Tahoe, CA/NV…Now that the snow is starting to stack up the snow reports are starting to look like snow reports. After weeks of manmade snow totals that stayed virtually unchanged mother nature is allowing resorts to open up new terrain.

Squaw is reporting a 28″ to 29″ base and 10 lifts operating. They are reporting up to 36″ of new snow in the last 24hours.

Diamond Peak is reporting a 70″ yes you read that right….70″ of snow at 8,500 feet and 50″ at 6,700 feet. We have heard from several people that their snow making has been phenomenal this year. They have some runs with impressive vertical feet open and incredible Lake Tahoe views.

Sugar Bowl is reporting a 30-45″ inch base and 18-24 inches of new snow.

Boreal is reporting up to 27 inches and 5 lifts operating. Their lifts are turning from 9am to 9pm everyday.

Northstar is reporting a 18 – 30 inch base and 15 lifts running

Homewood is open weekends with 16 inches of groomed, machine-made snow, great beginner slopes, lessons throughout the entire day, terrain park features, and a family snow play area. They have received 14 – 26″ of snow in the last 24 hours

Alpine Meadows is open with 32 – 64 inch base

Mt. Rose has a 26-39 inch base and 4 lifts running. Mt Rose is also claiming the highest totals from this storm with 32 – 64 inches of new snow..

Heavenly has 22 lifts and 35-57 inches for your riding pleasure..

Sierra at Tahoe has a 47 inch base

Kirkwood has 44-46 inches with 4 lifts running..

Alpine Meadows is reporting a 18 -24″ base.
