RTC announces New Year’s Eve transit service detours…. RTC reminds residents of free transit service on New Year’s Eve

The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) reminds everyone to celebrate responsibly this New Year’s Eve holiday by taking advantage of free transit service which will be available, from 6 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, Saturday, Dec. 31 until 9 a.m. on New Year’s Day, Sunday, Jan.1.

Free rides on New Year’s Eve apply to all RTC transit routes throughout the Las Vegas Valley, including the Strip & Downtown Express, Centennial Express, Westcliff Airport Express and the new Boulder Highway Express and Henderson & Downtown Express services.

On New Year’s Eve, many routes on and around the Las Vegas Strip, including the Deuce on the Strip double-deck service and Strip & Downtown Express, will be detoured from approximately 4 p.m. to 4 a.m. due to street closures on Las Vegas Boulevard.

The following routes will be detoured due to street closures: Routes 106, 113/MAX, 119, 201, 202, 203, 207, 208, 214, 215, Deuce on the Strip, Strip & Downtown Express, Henderson & Downtown Express, Centennial Express and Westcliff Airport Express.

The following routes will operate at extended hours: Route 117 will operate until 4:15 a.m. Route 119 will operate until 2:30 a.m. Route 217 from the South Strip Transfer Terminal to Silverton Casino will operate until 3:30 a.m. The Henderson & Downtown Express will operate until 2:30 a.m. The Centennial Express and Westcliff Airport Express will operate until 4 a.m.

Transit services on the Las Vegas Strip will also be modified: • The Deuce on the Strip will operate from Fremont Street Experience to Mandalay Bay via Koval
Lane at a 20-minute frequency. The Deuce service in the morning hours will be extended to the
South Strip Transfer Terminal beginning at 12:30 a.m. • The Strip & Downtown Express will operate from the Las Vegas Premium Outlets North to the South Strip Transfer Terminal via Industrial Road/Dean Martin Drive at a 20-minute frequency until 2:30 a.m.

The RTC will also operate its transit system on a Sunday schedule on Monday, January 2, in observation of the New Year’s Day holiday. The Sunday schedule will be implemented due to traditionally lower ridership and less traffic on this day.
